Cloudera Announces New Observability Solution

Analyst Take: The new Cloudera Observability solution, announced by Cloudera at The Six Five Summit, brings powerful new insights and monitoring to Cloudera customers. The SaaS tool utilizes telemetry data to provide visibility into the performance and health of the Cloudera environment, as well as provide financial governance and enhance the support process. The Cloudera Observability solution is available at no additional cost to Cloudera Data Platform customers in an essential version. A premium version that offers greater insights and automated actions is also available with an additional license. Cloudera Observability will initially support Spark, Hive, and Impala engines, with additional engine and platform support developed over time.

Cloudera Observability provides features across a wide range of areas to help customers monitor and optimize Cloudera Data Platform, including financial governance, system monitoring, service health monitoring, workload optimization, self-service analytics, and issue resolution.

I believe Cloudera Observability will be a powerful tool for helping Cloudera customers understand and manage their cloud costs. For AI and other large data workloads, infrastructure and service utilization – and the associated cost with such resources – can fluctuate dramatically. This can become even more difficult to track as resources are spread across multiple public clouds and on-premises. Cloudera Observability gives greater visibility into workload and resource utilization, health, and performance across hybrid cloud environments to help organizations better understand and manage their cloud costs.

I also believe Cloudera Observability will be a crucial tool for expediting the Cloudera support process. With access to live telemetry data, Cloudera support can efficiently pinpoint the root cause and respond to support requests without an additional back-and-forth process of requesting logs.

Looking forward, Cloudera is positioned to further enhance the capabilities of Cloudera Observability over time. While the initial capabilities of the solution are impressive, I see the power of Cloudera Observability truly living up to its potential as it becomes more predictive and more automated. As more focus on predictive capabilities are added, organizations can more accurately and efficiently plan ahead, while automation features can help further optimize operations. Cloudera has shared a number of product roadmap items including predictive tuning, automated metadata, intelligent troubleshooting, capacity and cost predictions, and more. While Cloudera customers have plenty to be excited about with this initial launch of Cloudera Observability, I believe these roadmap additions will unlock even greater potential for the solution.

Welcome

The vision behind everything in Futurum’s Custom Research practice is this: research should show you what is happening, what comes next, and what to do about it. It should be personal to each audience, easy for people to grasp, and structured so LLMs can reason over it accurately. And it should be fast and turnkey; you want answers now, not another project to carry for quarters.

Whether you are defining business, channel, or go-to-market strategy; evaluating vendors or justifying ROI; or commissioning research to fill an emerging market need, we have your back, with a program that answers your questions with the objectivity and credibility to drive real decisions.

To do it, we bring unmatched data to bear: Futurum research, surveys, and market projections; validated market feeds; ETR’s 15 years of insight from 10,000 technology decision-makers; G2’s buyer and user data; and what our analysts hear every day. Add leading primary collection, from AI-moderated voice interviews to surveys and analyst-led interviews, all turnkey, and every project comes out credible, nuanced, and actionable.

And we don’t just drop the results in your lap. For internal work, we provide analyst-led sessions, interactive dashboards, and a range of formats. For market-facing work, Futurum delivers turnkey activation and amplification that actually gets seen, by people and by LLMs, through our media and share of voice. This is research that moves decisions and markets.

We will meet you wherever you are, from a fast-turn brief to a multi-year program, and shape the work to your goals, timeline, and budget. The right program for your moment.

If any of this is useful, I would love to talk.
