Oracle Announces More Enhancements to Improve Insights for the Enterprise

Analyst Take: There is a lot of competition in the analytics space right now, and the more Oracle can deliver on making insights faster, easier and more valuable for business leaders, the more successful they’re going to be. At Oracle Cloud World this week, the company made it clear that it is focusing on making data insights easier for just about every user across the enterprise. Here’s a brief rundown of what was announced earlier this week:

  • Oracle Fusion Analytics: On the Oracle Fusion Analytics front, we’re seeing a lot of meaningful additions to the suite. Oracle Fusion CX Analytics is a new solution for sales, marketing, service, and finance users. What’s great is that it offers a bunch of ready-made KPIs and dashboards that use front, mid- and back-office data to optimize revenue and spend. The solution took a deep dive into the pain points these execs usually face in finding these insights and set to work directly on trying to solve them.
Outside of Fusion CX, we’re also seeing some valuable additions to Oracle Fusion ERP Analytics, which added a project management capability to help project-based companies gain clearer insights into things like risk, profitability and performance. It helps companies optimize margins by identifying cost optimization opportunities, finding billing trends, predicting variances in budget, etc. For supply chain and finance teams, Oracle Fusion SCM Analytics has added a cost accounting and intra/inter organizational transfer capability to help optimize cost and inventory management. And for HR, Oracle Fusion HCM Analytics has added features to gain insights on things like diversity, learning, retention, acquisition, etc.
  • Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC): When it comes to analytics cloud, there are also some new noteworthy features on the horizon. A semantic modeler helps democratize access to the central semantic model using a web-based tool that now allows for multi-user development, version control, and CI/CD processes. Advanced composite visualizations help users organize information to find patterns and signals in data. Proactive automated insights provide unbiased, automated recommendations for visualizations with one click, based on OAC analysis of data sets and metrics. Last, and pretty cool, is an AI/ML enhancement that allows for analyzing image-based content in an easy-to-read dashboard.

My co-host from Moor Insights and Strategy, Patrick Moorhead, and I discussed Oracle CloudWorld in a recent episode of our webcast, The Six Five “On the Road”. Check out the episode here.

Other Announcements that Took Center Stage

Even outside of Fusion Analytics and Analytics Cloud, there is a lot for Oracle users and prospects to be encouraged about. For instance, Autonomous Data Warehouse will make team collaboration and data sharing easier with open-source Delta Sharing protocol. Oracle E-business Suite Accelerator offers 80 pre-built dashboards and 300 KPIs and reports to help anyone new to analytics get their bearings. OCI GoldenGate has new capabilities to help users find and test for outliers and anomalies, apply insights from their machine learning models, and take the next best step automatically.

And lastly, MySQL HeatWave Lakehouse (the newest addition to the MySQL HeatWave portfolio), will allow users to process and query hundreds of terabytes of data in a variety of file formats. It is the only service that combines transaction processing, analytics, machine learning, and machine learning-based automation in a single MySQL database. My colleague Ron Westfall covers the MySQL Heatwave offering extensively in the past and will likely add more insight on this release in the coming days so be on the lookout for that if you are interested in digging in deeper.

Oracle Continues Heads-Down Focus

In September, after Oracle released its Q1 earnings, I said that it was clear that the company was looking to continue to grow its portfolio of offerings into more areas to grab market share from the other major players. The releases this week from Oracle Cloud World have further solidified that prediction. They also show that Oracle is doubling down on their strong positioning in the enterprise marketplace.

There is a lot packed in these announcements, and it’s wide ranging. The long and short of it is that Oracle continues to provide evidence that its growth and recent success in cloud and apps is sustainable and furthermore that it is seeking to make data insights accessible to everyone across geos and industries. And while that’s a tall order, the company is looking increasingly capable of executing on its strategy— and one that could pay off in their earnings reports later in the fiscal year.

Welcome

The vision behind everything in Futurum’s Custom Research practice is this: research should show you what is happening, what comes next, and what to do about it. It should be personal to each audience, easy for people to grasp, and structured so LLMs can reason over it accurately. And it should be fast and turnkey; you want answers now, not another project to carry for quarters.

Whether you are defining business, channel, or go-to-market strategy; evaluating vendors or justifying ROI; or commissioning research to fill an emerging market need, we have your back, with a program that answers your questions with the objectivity and credibility to drive real decisions.

To do it, we bring unmatched data to bear: Futurum research, surveys, and market projections; validated market feeds; ETR’s 15 years of insight from 10,000 technology decision-makers; G2’s buyer and user data; and what our analysts hear every day. Add leading primary collection, from AI-moderated voice interviews to surveys and analyst-led interviews, all turnkey, and every project comes out credible, nuanced, and actionable.

And we don’t just drop the results in your lap. For internal work, we provide analyst-led sessions, interactive dashboards, and a range of formats. For market-facing work, Futurum delivers turnkey activation and amplification that actually gets seen, by people and by LLMs, through our media and share of voice. This is research that moves decisions and markets.

We will meet you wherever you are, from a fast-turn brief to a multi-year program, and shape the work to your goals, timeline, and budget. The right program for your moment.

If any of this is useful, I would love to talk.
