Qumulo Announces Azure Native Qumulo and Scale Anywhere Platform

Analyst Take: Qumulo announced a new strategy that spans from edge to core to cloud called the Qumulo Scale Anywhere platform. The platform enables simple management and highly scalable unstructured data storage leveraging Qumulo software both on-premises and in the cloud, including a new Azure cloud service.

At the core of this announcement is Azure Native Qumulo (ANQ), a new managed service jointly developed by Microsoft and Qumulo. The ANQ solution provides the performance, scalability, and feature set of Qumulo software in a new, simple cloud model. ANQ features a low-cost cloud pricing model based on only two components: capacity used and throughput. The service provides a flexible solution that is capable of scaling as needed, including scaling performance separately from compute.

In addition to ANQ, the Scale Anywhere platform consists of the Qumulo Global Namespace (Q-GNS) data plane, Nexus unified control plane, and Qumulo One unified licensing model. Q-GNS truly provides the “anywhere” in the Scale Anywhere platform, allowing organizations to access their data from any location, across their edge, core, and cloud environments. The Nexus control plane provides a management tool to monitor usage and performance information across the entire Qumulo data environment. Finally, the Qumulo One licensing program unifies Qumulo storage across a hybrid multicloud environment under a single contract with a single price menu and a single tiered discount plan.

The announcement from Qumulo shows a well thought out strategy for large-scale unstructured data. Unstructured data is growing at a rapid pace and is increasingly spread out between data centers, clouds, and the edge. For many emerging unstructured data workloads, such as AI, the performance of this data needs to be prioritized. Managing this data at scale, while maintaining performance and a reasonable cost is a major challenge. Qumulo’s Scale Anywhere platform helps address these challenges by providing a single solution that can address unstructured data needs at all locations. Qumulo’s software is fully capable of handling large-scale capacity and performance needs, and it provides greater flexibility to do so across a full hybrid multicloud environment. The addition of ANQ provides great flexibility to leverage the public cloud for these large unstructured data sets while not being prohibited by either cost or performance as many other cloud solutions may be. The Qumulo Scale Anywhere platform introduces a new, attractive cloud service offering, while providing the management and tooling to integrate the service into a broader Qumulo-based hybrid cloud solution.

Welcome

The vision behind everything in Futurum’s Custom Research practice is this: research should show you what is happening, what comes next, and what to do about it. It should be personal to each audience, easy for people to grasp, and structured so LLMs can reason over it accurately. And it should be fast and turnkey; you want answers now, not another project to carry for quarters.

Whether you are defining business, channel, or go-to-market strategy; evaluating vendors or justifying ROI; or commissioning research to fill an emerging market need, we have your back, with a program that answers your questions with the objectivity and credibility to drive real decisions.

To do it, we bring unmatched data to bear: Futurum research, surveys, and market projections; validated market feeds; ETR’s 15 years of insight from 10,000 technology decision-makers; G2’s buyer and user data; and what our analysts hear every day. Add leading primary collection, from AI-moderated voice interviews to surveys and analyst-led interviews, all turnkey, and every project comes out credible, nuanced, and actionable.

And we don’t just drop the results in your lap. For internal work, we provide analyst-led sessions, interactive dashboards, and a range of formats. For market-facing work, Futurum delivers turnkey activation and amplification that actually gets seen, by people and by LLMs, through our media and share of voice. This is research that moves decisions and markets.

We will meet you wherever you are, from a fast-turn brief to a multi-year program, and shape the work to your goals, timeline, and budget. The right program for your moment.

If any of this is useful, I would love to talk.
