Analyst Take: There are roughly 3 billion mobile gaming users worldwide today with the bulk of them coming from Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and North America. A common thread among mobile gamers is that many play console-based or PC games and want a similar gaming experience on their mobile devices that echo or come close to echoing the functionality of those other devices they play on. Having played many game types on all the various device categories, the experience continues to get much richer and my viewpoint is mobile gaming will continue to appeal to its normal base in addition to transcending various demographic segments and world regions in the future.

Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro

The recently-launched Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro, targeted at the mobile gaming segment, is a solid device since it packs excellent power using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ 2 Gen (4nm) premium-tier mobile platform coupled with other functionality the vendor provides such as excellent heat dissipation to keep the device cool during play. Qualcomm’s premium-tier Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 mobile platform has a 64-bit Kryo CPU architecture with one prime core up to 3.36 Ghz, four performance cores up to 2.8 Ghz, and three efficiency cores up to 2.0 Ghz. It also includes the Adreno GPU 740.

From a dimension and display perspective, the Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro is 6.56 x 3.01 x 0.35 inches and weighs in at 8.04 ounces. The front of the device is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The device has a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 1116 x 2480 pixels with a 20:9 aspect ratio and is capable of a peak of 1300 nits.

The RedMagic 8S Pro main camera consists of a wide 50-megapixel, an 8-megapixel ultrawide, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It is capable of shooting 8K video at 30 frames per second (FPS), 4K at 30/60 FPS, and 1080p at 30/60/120/240 FPS. The selfie camera consists of a wide single 16-megapixel under-display sensor featuring HDR and can also shoot video at 1080p at 30 and 60 FPS. From a charging perspective, the RedMagic 8S Pro contains a non-removable Li-Po 6000 mAH battery with 80 wired charging that achieves a 100% charge in 35 minutes.

My view is the market for mobile gaming will continue to gain traction as users want to take their gaming experiences with them whenever or wherever they are. Like social media, gaming is also a collaboration or highly social experience where people get a sense of belonging. Thus, with the ability to connect with friends, loved ones, or social groups via mobile gaming, they will demand those experiences get much richer on their mobile devices in the future. Therefore, the RedMagic 8S Pro outfitted with Qualcomm’s premium tier Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 mobile platform, targeted at the mobile gaming segment, should appeal to users wanting a powerful mobile gaming device.
