Lenovo ThinkSmart View Plus: A Solid Device for Hybrid Work Environments

Analyst Take: Lenovo’s recent announcement of its Lenovo ThinkSmart View Plus, a standalone collaboration device that is now certified with Microsoft Teams is an excellent move for the company. The market for video collaboration solutions continues to grow due to more organizations allowing employees to work from home permanently or in hybrid environments.

Although we have witnessed some organizations mandating that workers come back to the office for one to two days a week, the world has proven that the work-from-home trend works well when organizations have management teams, educational staff (e.g., K12), proper management tools, and technologies in place to make it work more efficiently. In fact, many organizations recognize that in order to attract future talent (e.g., Gen Z, etc.), a key perk they are looking for is flexible work arrangements for an amalgamation of reasons including affordable housing and saving on fuel costs, just to name two key factors.

What we have learned is there is no one-size-fits-all solution on the market for hybrid or remote environments since job functions and organizations have different needs from a device standpoint such as huddle rooms, shared workspaces, home offices, and more.

Lenovo ThinkSmart View

To help organizations solve some of those challenges, the Lenovo ThinkSmart View Plus is a standalone collaboration device that is certified with Microsoft Teams and should be welcomed into many environments such as huddle rooms, executive offices, hot desking situations, executive offices, working from home, and medical staff working with patients, to name a few examples. Another natural fit for such a device is in the manufacturing sector where research and development, manufacturing, marketing, and procurement teams typically work in different regions and time zones and need excellent collaboration tools, coupled with a stylus and whiteboard to collaborate on designs.

The Lenovo ThinkSmart View Plus with Microsoft Teams is a 27-inch integrated multi-touch display with a 4K RGB-infrared camera that offers auto-framing along with AI security features such as facial recognition. Users also can use the device in monitor mode and use it as a touchscreen to seamlessly interact with Microsoft Teams (e.g., chat, view calendar meetings, view calendars, share files, etc.).

The device comes with a passive stylus pen and Microsoft’s whiteboard application, allowing users to collaborate on the screen in real time. The Lenovo ThinkSmart View Plus also includes premium dual 5w speakers and a four-microphone array with status lights.

Wrapping it up, The Lenovo ThinkSmart View Plus standalone collaboration device that is certified for Microsoft Teams Display working with Windows 11 devices should be welcomed in a variety of work environments since there is no one-size-fits-all solution. The device should resonate with organizations with small huddle rooms, shared workspaces, home offices, executive offices, and more.
