Oracle Industry Lab Opens as Incubator for Innovative, Immersive Technology Solutions

Analyst Take: The newly opened Oracle Industry Lab outside of Chicago is a unique idea incubator designed to help businesses in a variety of industries tackle their most complex challenges. Oracle’s 30,000 square foot testing ground equipped with Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, is intended to provide a space where enterprise partners can develop and test new ideas and solutions using technology from Oracle and more than 30 industry partners. The lab’s initial focus will be on the energy and water, construction and engineering, communications, and manufacturing industries. My partner here at Futurum, Daniel Newman, had a chance to visit the lab in the last few weeks and snapped some shots of some of what the team there is working on including these projects —

Sustainability and productivity are at the forefront of the global challenges Oracle Industry Lab hopes to address. Noting that “many industries are at a crossroads as they look to navigate increasing regulatory, environmental, and customer-driven demands,” Oracle and its technology partners will provide an unprecedented opportunity for the company’s enterprise partners to develop innovative solutions to these and other challenges facing today’s organizations. An emphasis on cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and virtual and augmented reality, goes a long way toward positioning Oracle’s Industry Lab as an innovation incubator with the potential to deliver results that will shape the future of diverse industries.

Oracle Industry Lab Leans into Immersive Technologies

With industry partnerships including Taqtile, which provides enterprise software leveraging AR, cloud computing, and LTE/5G capabilities, the Oracle Industry Lab is providing the ability to experiment and learn from some of the newest technology platforms in the immersive technology space. Taqtile’s Manifest, an AR-enabled work instruction platform with remote-assistance capabilities, is an immersive problem-solving tool with a myriad of potential use cases.

Other partners in the XR (extended reality – which includes AR, MR, and VR) space include EDX Technologies, which offers interactive and collaborative mixed reality capabilities, Reconstruct, a platform for reality capture and 3 and 4D modeling, and VREX, a 3D construction collaboration tool.

The opening of Oracle Industry Lab is a significant move from Oracle, one of the largest software companies in the world, as it provides a real-world incubator for immersive and other future-forward technology exploration, ideation, testing, and development. It’s also an exciting opportunity for Oracle’s technology partners to be on the ground floor of emerging solutions with wide-ranging potential.

I find Oracle’s focus on sustainability and productivity not only prescient but admirable, as these are issues with real impact not only for organizations but also the communities they serve. I’m looking forward to learning more about the innovative solutions that will manifest from Oracle Industry Lab and how they stand to influence the future of immersive technology, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing capabilities.
