OpenText’s Value Stream Management Platform Gains Updates

Analyst Take: OpenText’s newest ValueEdge23 platform gets beefed up with several critical new features that will expand its value for enterprises, providing good news for IT leaders who are actively seeking beneficial improvements for their IT stacks.

OpenText ValueEdge23 builds on the company’s already established work in the DevOps and VSM markets, adding features that will provide deeper tools to allow enterprises to achieve their business goals when it comes to achieving improved speed-to-value results.

The ValueEdge23 platform and DevOps tools allow businesses to automate their business and digital value chains so they can deliver better, smarter applications to market more quickly, giving them an edge over competitors that are still doing things using outdated technologies. The idea behind ValueEdge23 is that it boosts speed-to-value by increasing the importance and flow of high-value systemic changes everywhere inside a company from development stages through production, resulting in increased revenue, better customer experiences, and improved competitiveness.

This is an innovative differentiator for enterprises because VSM strategies have not yet been fully adopted by companies across the business world, and this is still one of those emerging areas where enterprises can set themselves apart from their competitors in the marketplace.

VSM is designed to help users boost the value, flow, and quality of the software that their IT departments build and deploy using a detailed, multi-phase workflow that breaks the processes into achievable parts. VSM covers application planning, building, testing, delivery, and operation, and then connects this progress to how enterprises deliver these benefits to their customers, suppliers, and workers.

OpenText’s New ValueEdge23 Capabilities

Highlighting the improvements in ValueEdge23 are new strategic planning tools, including an all-new ValueEdge Strategy module and ValueEdge Agile, which aims to deliver on continuous planning processes used within organizations using agile development structures. The new strategic planning tools include portfolio management and visualization, as well as innovative investment prioritization capabilities and seamless integration with agile management initiatives.

Also boosting the latest version of ValueEdge23 is a new ValueEdge Functional Test module, which enables developers, who formerly had to manually code such testing, to now create automation tasks without having to code, which speeds and expands testing workflows and improves code resiliency.

Improvements were also made by providing broadened real-world performance engineering through the inclusion of the ValueEdge Performance application from the Micro Focus LoadRunner family of products. OpenText acquired Micro Focus in January and is working to bring its products and services together for customers across its markets. ValueEdge Performance allows performance engineering to be done to applications from the start of their lifecycles so they can be built to anticipate and deal with real-world stresses. OpenText and Value Edge Performance achieve this by infusing performance engineering into the DevOps pipeline, including new Smart Analytics to provide insights into application changes as they happen and by modeling applications under load.

ValueEdge23 also includes a wide range of system services, analytics, and dashboards for customers, while also providing a platform for optional Acceleration Modules, such as ValueEdge Strategy and ValueEdge Functional Test.

OpenText ValueEdge23 Overview

OpenText is doing some interesting and helpful things here to better enable enterprises to expand the management and improvement of their critical business VSM workflows. By boosting ValueEdge23 with new capabilities that expand the platform’s functionality, OpenText is providing enterprise IT leaders with the tools that can help them accelerate important speed-to-value considerations affecting their growing operations using VSM. This is a wise technology to review and ponder for busy enterprises that are looking for ways to set themselves apart from competitors.
