The News: On August 27, 2026, Nasuni announced it had acquired DryvIQ, a provider of intelligent unstructured data management, adding AI-powered content intelligence and governance to the Nasuni File Data Platform. The acquisition adds content-level discovery and classification, sensitivity detection, and automated policy-driven governance, extending visibility and control beyond Nasuni’s own platform to more than 40 cloud and on-premises repositories.
DryvIQ’s technology scans file content across more than 550 file formats, over 100 entities, and more than 1,000 business document types, and detects PII, PHI, and PCI data across more than 175 languages. Configurable policy rules can quarantine high-risk content, apply retention and sensitivity labels, remediate permissions, and support defensible deletion, with enforcement mapped to frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
Nick Burling, Chief Product Officer at Nasuni, said the deal follows the addition of “best-in-class edge performance with Resilio” and “permission-aware AI access with AI Activate” earlier this year, and that Nasuni now manages, moves, classifies, governs, and activates enterprise file data from a single platform built on its UniFS foundation. DryvIQ is available for immediate use, and Nasuni said it plans to deepen its integration with its file data platform over the coming months. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Analyst Take—Nasuni Acquires DryvIQ to Push Governance Ahead of AI Exposure: For most enterprises, unstructured file data and data governance have lived in separate tool categories: a platform to store, move, and protect files, and a separate layer (often a standalone classification, DLP, or data-security-posture vendor) to figure out what’s actually in those files and whether it’s safe to expose. Nasuni acquires DryvIQ specifically to close that gap, folding content-level discovery, classification, and policy enforcement directly into the platform where the files already live, rather than leaving customers to bolt governance on after the fact.
That sequencing matters more now than it would have two years ago. As enterprises push file data into copilots, retrieval pipelines, and AI agents, the risk isn’t hypothetical: unclassified content scattered across dozens of repositories can carry PII, PHI, or PCI data straight into an AI system before anyone has checked. DryvIQ’s stated ability to scan content across more than 550 file formats and 175 languages, and to automatically quarantine or label sensitive material, is aimed at putting that check before AI exposure rather than after. Whether it closes the gap in practice depends on how well the discovery and classification models perform against real, messy enterprise content. The press release doesn’t provide independent accuracy figures to answer that question; however, G2 reviews suggest customers are happy with the capability.
Consolidating the AI-Readiness Stack Instead of Stitching It Together
Burling’s quote is revealing for what it concedes: customers have been “attempting to stitch together a solution across multiple vendors for years.” That’s an admission that the previous state of the market, with separate storage, edge, AI-access, and governance vendors, created real integration friction for buyers. Nasuni’s response this year has been to acquire its way out of that friction, adding Resilio for edge performance and now DryvIQ for content intelligence, while building AI Activate for permission-aware AI access internally. The pattern is a platform vendor trying to own the full path from raw file storage to AI-ready, governed data, instead of ceding classification and governance to point vendors.
That consolidation puts two kinds of pressure on the market. Standalone data classification and governance vendors now compete against a bundled capability within a platform their prospects may already use for file storage, raising the bar for independent differentiation. Other file and object storage platforms face a choice: build or acquire equivalent content intelligence themselves, or cede the “AI-ready data platform” positioning to vendors like Nasuni that can point to native classification and governance rather than a partner integration.
The open questions sit in the details the announcement doesn’t cover. Nasuni hasn’t disclosed acquisition terms, so the deal’s scale relative to Resilio or Nasuni’s other investments this year isn’t visible externally. Nor is it clear whether DryvIQ’s capabilities will ship as a built-in feature available to all customers or as a premium module adopted only by some of Nasuni’s more than 1,300 enterprise customers. That packaging decision will determine whether this acquisition meaningfully changes how broadly Nasuni customers actually govern their data before AI adoption, or mainly changes what Nasuni can say in a sales conversation.
