Amdocs, AWS, and T-Mobile Form AI-powered Business Assurance Power Trio

Analyst Take: The alliance between Amdocs, AWS and T-Mobile is designed to provide an assist to Sprint customers and encourage adoption of cloud-based assurance solutions across the mobile ecosystem. The three-way alliance is demonstrating that both AI and cloud technologies can play an instrumental and beneficial role across the vast and intricate undertaking of migrating Sprint customers to the T-Mobile network in accelerating positive business assurance outcomes.

From my perspective, the alliance played a tangible role of T-Mobile reporting in the company’s Q1 2022 results the raising of its merger synergies guidance to the $5.2 billion to $5.4 billion range in 2022, up from the previous range of $5.0 to $5.3 billion. The merger synergies included approximately $2.3 billion to $2.4 billion of selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expense reductions, and approximately $1.6 billion to $1.7 billion of network synergies achieved through cost-of-service expense reductions.

The improvement in the range of merger synergies guidance is linked to T-Mobile’s plans to complete transitioning all Sprint customers to the T-Mobile network over the next few months – only over two years from the merger close. T-Mobile is also on track to upgrade or decommission substantially all Sprint sites during 2022. Roughly one-third of the 35,000 targeted sites have been decommissioned as of Q1 2022 with the remaining ramping in H2 2022.

I believe the Amdocs and AWS AI-powered, cloud-based solution for conversion accuracy validation has contributed toward T-Mobile’s momentum in executing the Sprint merger synergies. Specifically, the business assurance module of the Amdocs Data and AI Platform is developed to detect deviations and consistencies of customer financial and billing data while transitioning to new systems.

As a result, T-Mobile diminishes its non-financial exposure by ensuring data completeness, economic accuracy, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance. The process of decommissioning up to 35.000 Sprint sites this year requires smart billing assurance to avoid significant disruptions in fulfilling overall customer experience demands including minimizing bill shock and confusion throughout the merger journey.

The positive outcomes from the T-Mobile engagement I see further validates the ability of the Amdocs portfolio and technology services to meet business challenges in the AWS cloud. With AWS certified professionals embedded in the Amdocs organization, Amdocs strengthens its prospects in broadening its influence across the service provider community as they advance their cloud journeys in the pursuit of meeting their service innovation and customer experience objectives.
