NETSCOUT’s Q1 FY 2027 earnings show a stronger start to the fiscal year, driven by Service Assurance demand, federal order timing, and early traction for Omnis Sensor and Streamer. The results also signal how AI workloads, hybrid cloud complexity, and larger DDoS attacks are shaping NETSCOUT’s product direction.

The News: NETSCOUT SYSTEMS, INC. (NASDAQ: NTCT) announced Q1 FY 2027 revenue of $210.4 million, up 12.7% year over year (YoY), above Wall Street consensus of $196 million. Service Assurance revenue increased 19.7% YoY and accounted for 67% of total revenue, while Cybersecurity revenue grew 0.6% YoY and accounted for 33%. Enterprise revenue grew 19.1% YoY and represented 63% of total revenue, while Service Provider revenue grew 3.3% YoY and represented 37%. Non-GAAP income from operations was $43.7 million, up from $26.6 million, with non-GAAP operating margin of 20.8% compared with 14.2%. Non-GAAP net income was $38.6 million, compared with $24.7 million, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share was $0.52, compared with $0.34.

“Service assurance performed well, reflecting in part government-related demand, while cybersecurity delivered results consistent with the prior year. Our investment in innovation continued to yield differentiated patented technologies that generate complex, high-fidelity, AI-ready Smart Data, a trusted data foundation for advanced analytics, automation, and AI-enabled decision-making across observability, AIOps, service assurance, cybersecurity, and DDoS attack protection,” said Anil Singhal, NETSCOUT’s president and chief executive officer. “In June, we reached an important milestone with the granting of our 750th patent, demonstrating the strength of our R&D engine and the durability of our technology moat,” Singhal added.

NETSCOUT Q1 FY 2027: Service Assurance and DDoS Capacity Expand

Analyst Take: NETSCOUT’s Q1 FY 2027 results show a business benefiting from near-term federal timing and a clearer product role in AI-driven operations. Service Assurance remains the main growth engine, while Cybersecurity held steady against a difficult prior-year comparison. The more important strategic point is that NETSCOUT is trying to tie network observability, AIOps, service assurance, and DDoS protection to a common data foundation. That positioning matters as enterprise environments become more distributed and AI workloads raise the cost of poor visibility.

Service Assurance Gains From Federal Demand and Hybrid Complexity

Service Assurance was the standout business in Q1 FY 2027, growing 19.7% YoY and reaching 67% of total revenue. Federal demand played a clear role, with $10 million to $15 million of orders pulled into the quarter earlier than expected. Normalized for that timing, quarterly growth would have been in the mid-single-digit range, which better reflects the company’s current run rate. Federal revenue was in the mid-teens as a percentage of total revenue, compared with a typical mid- to high-single-digit contribution. Hybrid cloud, remote work, automation, and AI workloads are creating more traffic paths and operational handoffs for customers. Service Assurance is becoming the main route for NETSCOUT to attach its visibility assets to larger digital operations programs.

Omnis Sensor and Streamer Extend NETSCOUT’s AI Data Role

Omnis Sensor and Streamer are becoming important indicators of NETSCOUT’s AI opportunity, even though revenue remains early. The solutions make NETSCOUT’s high-fidelity metadata available to observability, cybersecurity, and AIOps platforms across partner environments. The company has fewer than 10 customers for the solution so far, which suggests early adoption rather than broad penetration. Customer interest centers on the need for accurate datasets that can feed AI algorithms and improve root-cause analysis. Sales cycles may remain longer because these deployments often sit inside broader AI programs rather than conventional monitoring projects. Omnis gives NETSCOUT a credible path to sell data quality as a requirement for AI-enabled operations.

Arbor Cloud Capacity Expansion Sharpens the DDoS Strategy

NETSCOUT’s Cybersecurity business grew 0.6% YoY in Q1 FY 2027, with both enterprise and service provider customer verticals growing modestly. The comparison was difficult because the prior-year period grew in the high-teens due to large project timing. The acquisition of DigiCert’s DDoS attack protection business assets gives NETSCOUT more control over Arbor Cloud’s infrastructure. NETSCOUT doubled Arbor Cloud mitigation capacity to 30 terabits per second after bringing more of the platform in-house. That move should support faster capacity investment, tighter alignment between threat intelligence and infrastructure, and better margin potential from recurring revenue. DDoS protection is shifting from a point product into a platform-scale issue, and NETSCOUT is investing accordingly.

Guidance and Final Thoughts

NETSCOUT reaffirmed FY 2027 revenue guidance of $885 million to $915 million, implying 4.7% YoY growth at the midpoint. Non-GAAP diluted earnings per share guidance remains $2.65 to $2.80, implying 9.9% YoY growth at the midpoint. The revenue range sits below Wall Street consensus of $915.5 million, while the EPS midpoint is broadly aligned with consensus of $2.74. For Q2 FY 2027, revenue is expected to be broadly consistent with the prior-year period because some orders accelerated into Q1 FY 2027, and the comparison period was strong. First-half revenue growth is expected in the mid-single-digit range, with Q2 FY 2027 EPS expected to grow in the high-single-digit range.

The unchanged full-year outlook suggests management is treating the Q1 FY 2027 upside partly as timing rather than a reason to raise expectations. The more durable indicators will be whether Service Assurance can sustain growth after the federal pull-forward and whether Omnis and Arbor Cloud translate product investment into broader recurring revenue. If NETSCOUT can turn its high-fidelity network data into a larger role across AIOps, AI operations, and DDoS protection, then the company could expand beyond traditional network monitoring while improving the quality of its revenue mix.
