Analyst Take: AMD CPUs are getting a New Year’s boost as the chipmaker unveils an expanded line of high-performing desktop and mobile chips, as well as new products aimed at AI, healthcare and aerospace.

This is great news for AMD enterprise and consumer customers, who are always hungry for more power to help with demanding applications, research, content creation, and performance-hungry video gaming.

In AMD’s latest lineup there are several serious innovations, including new mobile processors that include Ryzen AI technology for the first time, new Radeon graphics capabilities for laptops, a new AI accelerator for AI inferencing, and an all-new integrated data center CPU and GPU for high performance computing (HPC) and AI.

AMD again hits the mark, delivering powerful new innovations and products that will bring even greater performance to enterprises, researchers, creators, gamers and consumers.

AMD CPUs continue to push the envelope of computing performance for users with incredible technology, innovations, designs, and product road maps that help to deliver success and performance for users around the world.

Latest AMD CPU and Other Product Highlights

Among AMD’s latest products announced at CES are:

  • New AMD Ryzen 7040 Series mobile processors, which include up to eight Zen 4 cores and AMD RDNA 3 graphics. Also debuting in the Ryzen 7040 processors is AMD’s new Ryzen AI technology, integrating the first dedicated artificial intelligence hardware into an AMD x86 processor.
  • AMD Ryzen 7045HX series CPUs for mobile devices, built on 5nm process technology and featuring up to 16 Zen 4 cores and 32 threads.
  • AMD Ryzen 7000X3D series processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology for fast gaming performance.
  • New AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics for laptops using AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture, enabling energy efficiency and high performance for 1080p gaming and for advanced content creation applications.
  • The new AMD Alveo V70 AI accelerator, which is built for multiple AI inference workloads.
  • AMD’s new Instinct MI300 integrated data center CPU and GPU in one, designed for HPC and AI uses.
  • New AMD Vitis medical imaging libraries that are designed to accelerate premium medical imaging on AMD Versal SoC devices.
  • AMD adaptive computing products including AMD FPGAs and adaptive SoCs, which are being used in space exploration, including the latest Artemis moon mission.

These are some impressive new products from AMD. I am particularly intrigued by the inclusion of AMD Ryzen AI technology and hardware within the company’s latest Ryzen 7040 series CPUs, which opens an amazing array of possibilities in the still developing world of AI. It will be interesting to watch how these chips are used in new devices that encompass AI features. Great move, AMD.

Also intriguing is the new AMD Alveo V70 AI accelerator, which will give more options for users of AI inferencing from another well-known and trusted IT partner. I am looking forward to seeing how the V70 stacks up against competitors in the growing AI accelerator space. I think this is another great market-expanding move from AMD, and it is one to watch with interest.

Continuing AMD CPU Performance

AMD CPUs and other innovative products again do not disappoint after getting plenty of deserved attention and accolades at CES 2023. This innovative company, led by Chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su, continues to develop and market chips and other products that are built to serve the computing needs of enterprises, consumers, and researchers, helping them to solve their computing problems and deliver impressive results.

It is always interesting to watch AMD’s evolving road map of product innovations as it follows the needs of its customers, backed by the company’s creative and wise executive team.
