Samsung Galaxy A54 5G Smartphone: Stellar Features at an Affordable Price

Analyst Take: Samsung’s new Galaxy A54 5G smartphone is a perfect fit for budget-conscious consumers in the market for affordable mid-range smartphones with some premium features, for a variety of reasons.

For starters, not all consumers and businesses are alike. The reality is that for consumers, there are a range of budgetary or functionality requirements that run the gamut. This is especially true now as consumers have been impacted by higher inflation rates impairing their ability to afford discretionary items. Another factor at play here is the fact that not every smartphone user wants or needs all of the robust flagship features from premium tier phones such as the Galaxy S, etc. That’s what makes the Galaxy A54 5G so attractive.

With a starting price point of $499.99, it’s both feature rich and affordable, and it will be available in early April. The device includes the Exynos 1380 SoC (on a 5-millimeter platform), a step above the Exynos 1280 SoC and should have a performance boost of 20 percent on the CPU front and 26 percent from a GPU perspective.

The Galaxy A54 5G includes Gorilla Glass 5, a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display (2400 x 1080-pixel resolution) with a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s also highly durable and has an ingress protection (IP) rating of IP67 (e.g., dust and water resistant of up to 1 meter for 30 minutes).

The Galaxy A54 5G also includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 5-megapixel macro camera and a 32-megapixel front camera. Although I have not had a chance to test the device, the new sensors should make the camera perform much better in low-light conditions, which is a feature the consumer market has been been clamoring for.

The device also includes 6 gigabytes of memory, plus 128 gigabytes of storage, along with expandable storage of (up to 1 terabyte with an optional MicroSD card), which is great if you want to add more music and additional content. The battery is a 5,000maH that will allow 25 watts charging, which should last its users a day or two.

From a sustainability perspective, Samsung also promises up to four generations of operating system upgrades and five years of security updates that will also be attractive to budget conscious consumers and organizations that are committed to sustainability initiatives which are badly needed today.

Wrapping it up, the market for more affordable mid-range phones that incorporate premium features should continue to be welcomed to consumers that have budgetary needs along with different functionality requirements. The Galaxy A54 5G will offer its users more processing power, a more robust camera that performs better in lower-light conditions and solid storage options to name a few.
