The ThinkPad X Series convertible (2-in-1) and clamshell notebooks come with Intel’s 12th Generation (Alder Lake) processor with vPro while the clamshell also offers AMD Ryzen Pro 6000 Series.

Both models have Wi-Fi 6E, 4G LTE and Bluetooth 5.2. A key difference between the models is the ThinkPad X13 Gen 3 also offers sub-6 5G. Both models have robust storage capacity of up to 2TBs, while memory is up to 32GBs.

The ThinkPad X Series is a good option for employees who are on the road more frequently or traversing to and from the office such as a sales executive who may have greater storage requirements for presentations, contracts, and more.

The ThinkPad L series lines are also outfitted with Intel’s 12th generation (Alder Lake) processors or AMD Ryzen 5000 Series processors versus the AMD Ryzen 6000 processors. The ThinkPad L13 Gen 3 and L13 Yoga Gen 3 both offer 32GB of memory, up to 1TB of storage and 1.3-inch displays, while the ThinkPad L14 Gen 3 and ThinkPad L15 Gen 3 has 64GB of memory and 1TB of storage. I see the ThinkPad L series as a good option for organizations with employees who are remote and/or working on a hybrid work schedule, with the ability to handle basic office productivity, but at a price point that doesn’t break the budget.

These additions to the ThinkPad business portfolio are solid ones and designed to offer up a range of choices to fit a variety of needs and price points. I’m looking forward to getting hands on one of these new models and giving it a test run.
