Juniper O-RAN SMO Aimed at Solving 5G Complexity

In the latest episode of The 5G Factor, our series analysts Ron Westfall and Todd R. Weiss share their insights about Juniper Networks’ recent moves with its O-RAN SMO (Service Management and Orchestration) framework and several partnerships.

Juniper O-RAN SMO Aimed at Solving 5G Complexity

Juniper Networks is committed to solving future network orchestration, automation, and service assurance complexity in 5G and Open RAN environments using its innovative Juniper O-RAN Service Management and Orchestration (O-RAN SMO) framework. Created and incubated at Juniper’s Beyond Labs, O-RAN SMO is designed from the ground up for virtualized, cloud-native modern networks and is purpose-built for 5G network slicing to allow CSPs to provision, manage, and monetize custom network services on demand. O-RAN SMO also implements the 3GPP-defined RAN Network Slice Subnet Management Function which manages the portion of the network slice that belongs to the RAN domain.
