HPE Raises HPE GreenLake Cloud Cred with New CDW Deal

The News: HPE announced that CDW, a global managed service provider, has selected the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform to enhance its core UK cloud suite of products called ServiceWorks. HPE GreenLake is being used to enable ServiceWorks to meet increasing demand, accelerate deployment of new services and improve overall customer experience for its Desktop-as-a-Service platform. HPE Raises HPE GreenLake Cloud Cred with New CDW Deal

Analyst Take: HPE GreenLake is making strides raising its edge-to-cloud platform proposition by expanding its business relationship with heavyweight managed services provider CDW to enhance CDW ServiceWork Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) platform. The new deal entails CDW deploying HPE GreenLake to swiftly scale operations, improve financial flexibility, and lessen upfront capital expenditures (CapEx).

This was an important move, and one I was glad to see. HPE GreenLake needed to tout its expanded relationship with CDW to gain more mind share across the quickly evolving cloud ecosystem. This includes its partnership with Nutanix that combines Nutanix software with HPE Infrastructure to underpin the HPE GreenLake platform. From my perspective, the combination has played an integral role in advancing HPE GreenLake’s market presence to include 1,250 enterprise customers as well as 900 channel partners selling the platform.

CDW provides Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), including DaaS, across the healthcare, education, government, and business segments in the UK, US, and Canada. Now CDW can move away from annual procurement of hardware and holding a buffer capacity to fulfill unplanned surges in customer demand. Through HPE GreenLake, CDW can flexibly scale capacity according to immediate customer needs by using HPE GreenLake Central to monitor and administer cloud capacity to optimize costs, compliance, security, and utilization throughout CDW’s desktop and cloud platforms.

In the post-pandemic era, I believe the hybrid workforce and work from home (WFH) models are enduring trends throughout the digital workforce world. It is clear that WFH and hybrid work is not simply a pandemic-inspired trend, it’s a reality of the workplace and it’s here to stay. This means today that CDW ServiceWorks cloud solutions like DaaS aren’t simply nice to have, they are integral to IT operations and augmenting the overall customer experience. In the hybrid work world, CDW DaaS solutions are developed to help ensure customers can run their core business services in a consistent and secure way.

CDW can now offer organizations a DaaS subscription that allows them to avoid the complexities and CapEx burden of managing their own hardware. The pay-per-user subscription model of DaaS enables customers to elastically scale their capacity needs, up or down, according to evolving requirements. For example, customers can roll out cloud desktops for workforce additions and temporary workers during peak intervals. Moreover, organizations can uniformly extend their company-wide security and management policies to their WFH and hybrid workforce that administers expanding home offices in the same manner as branch and regional offices.

Key Takeaways on HPE GreenLake’s Support of CDW ServiceWorks and DaaS

I view HPE’s expanded business relationship with CDW as further positioning the HPE GreenLake platform to win more mind share and presence as managed service provider cloud offerings, including DaaS, takeoff in the post-pandemic era as hybrid workforce and WFH networking demands become commonplace. With the new CDW deal, HPE expands the cloud ecosystem influence of the HPE GreenLake proposition boosting its competitive prospects against cloud/IT rivals such as Dell, IBM/Redhat, and SAP, as well as augmenting its credentials in relation to public cloud alternatives like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle.

The vision behind everything in Futurum’s Custom Research practice is this: research should show you what is happening, what comes next, and what to do about it. It should be personal to each audience, easy for people to grasp, and structured so LLMs can reason over it accurately. And it should be fast and turnkey; you want answers now, not another project to carry for quarters.

Whether you are defining business, channel, or go-to-market strategy; evaluating vendors or justifying ROI; or commissioning research to fill an emerging market need, we have your back, with a program that answers your questions with the objectivity and credibility to drive real decisions.

To do it, we bring unmatched data to bear: Futurum research, surveys, and market projections; validated market feeds; ETR’s 15 years of insight from 10,000 technology decision-makers; G2’s buyer and user data; and what our analysts hear every day. Add leading primary collection, from AI-moderated voice interviews to surveys and analyst-led interviews, all turnkey, and every project comes out credible, nuanced, and actionable.

And we don’t just drop the results in your lap. For internal work, we provide analyst-led sessions, interactive dashboards, and a range of formats. For market-facing work, Futurum delivers turnkey activation and amplification that actually gets seen, by people and by LLMs, through our media and share of voice. This is research that moves decisions and markets.

We will meet you wherever you are, from a fast-turn brief to a multi-year program, and shape the work to your goals, timeline, and budget. The right program for your moment.

If any of this is useful, I would love to talk.
