Samsung Care+ Will Delight Customers and Promote Sustainability

The News: In a recent blog post, Samsung discussed its Samsung Care+ initiative, offering its Galaxy device users an extra level of protection, such as unlimited repairs, theft and loss coverage, and 24×7 expert support that is designed to keep its customers delighted while also promoting sustainability by keeping devices in the field longer. Samsung Care+ Will Delight Customers and Promote Sustainability

Analyst Take: Samsung’s provision of the Samsung Care+ service offering to its device users is a solid idea as it promotes a better customer experience, coupled with helping address sustainability issues, since the offering will also help keep devices in the hands of its users for a longer period. Although users keep their devices for an average of 2.5 to 3 years, it is estimated that a mid-to-high double digits percentage of users break or damage them at least one or two times during the device’s lifespan. In fact, my family has supported local consumer electronics value-added resellers (VARs) over the years, dealing with cracked screens and battery replacements, among other issues. Therefore, Samsung Care+ is an excellent solution, providing its users peace of mind when it comes to their devices.

The Samsung Care+ Offering Includes:

  • A charge of $8 to $16 per month depending on the user’s device.
  • Unlimited repairs for drops, spills, and mechanical breakdowns. This also includes $29 for same-day screen repairs at 700+ Samsung authorized locations worldwide.
  • Theft and loss coverage replacing the device.
  • Same-day replacement and setup.
  • Knox Guard Security, which includes remote lock and data wipes in the event of a lost or stolen device, and is key for professions that use their phone for
  • 24/7 expert support for device setup, content transfers, and connecting with other devices.

My impression is that the Samsung Care+ offering will resonate with consumers because our lives have continued to merge between home and work as more users are working in hybrid or remote environments. In essence, we are taking our business devices with us for work or on vacation, which also raises the odds of devices being lost, damaged, or stolen. In fact, the day before I was flying to an event, I dropped my phone and the screen shattered. I took it to a local reseller, and it was repaired in a few hours. Thus, I think the service will be well received.

Overall, the Samsung Care+ offering is an excellent service that I believe will be attractive to consumers, hybrid workers, and those individuals who are looking at companies with a strong focus on sustainability coupled with solutions that can quickly keep fix, replace, or wipe their devices in the event they are lost or stolen.
