Dell Releases InsightIQ 5.0

Analyst Take: Dell announced its most recent update to InsightIQ with the release of version 5.0. InsightIQ is performance monitoring and management software that is available with Dell PowerScale NAS. The following enhancements are new to the 5.0 release.

  • Updated interface (UI): Perhaps the most obvious update in InsightIQ is the revamped management interface. The new UI was built to increase management simplicity and features a new tile-based dashboard to show key information. The tile view gives insight into information such as number of clusters managed, recent alerts, capacity usage, and performance summaries.
  • Improved scalability: The 5.0 release increased the scalability of InsightIQ by increasing the number of PowerScale nodes that can be managed. InsightIQ 5.0 can now manage 504 PowerScale nodes from a single interface.
  • Enhanced security: Security was also enhanced in the 5.0 release by further securing communication with PowerScale systems. InsightIQ now utilizes TLS 1.3 and LDAP-S when communicating with PowerScale.
  • Automation: InsightIQ 5.0 includes additional automation to simplify operations and reduce repetitive manual tasks. The new version includes customizable key performance indicator (KPI) alerts to provide users with automated notifications based on the user set thresholds. These automated alerts can save users from relying on manually checking InsightIQ and can assist users in more quickly resolving issues.

Dell PowerScale is a highly scalable NAS system with models including an array of high-capacity and all-flash performance needs to meet a number of scale-out NAS use cases, including most recently AI applications. Monitoring and management of these systems is crucial to maintaining the performance requirements of these applications. As Dell PowerScale continues to be positioned as a solution for AI and other demanding use cases, the management insights provided by InsightIQ will be pivotal in helping organizations meet their performance needs. The updates to InsightIQ 5.0 further boost the value of InsightIQ software by creating a simpler platform with support for additional scaling of PowerScale and improved security.
