Veritas has offered its NetBackup (NBU) backup and recovery software pre-integrated with required hardware into purpose-built backup appliances (PBBAs) since the launch of its NBU Appliances in 2010. It introduced its line of Flex Appliances in March 2018 as a modern counterpart intended to compete against the likes of data management-oriented hyperconverged appliances from the likes of Cohesity and Rubrik.
