Veritas has continued to advance the capabilities of Data Insight with the integration of additional software to become their multi-cloud data management offering. Focused on unstructured data including files and application data, Data Insight has become a valuable tool for managing information assets.
Initially Data Insight was seen as primarily to be used for identifying security risks and taking action. Expanded with the integration of the Veritas Classification Engine and File Governance solution and the ability to archive data with use of Enterprise Vault, Data Insight has extended the use to include lifecycle management, capacity reduction (by virtue of the ability to archive or delete data based on criteria and user enablement), and compliance assurance.
Data Insight works with selected NAS systems from major vendors, AWS S3, and with applications such as Microsoft SharePoint and OpenText. Currently, Data Insight is not integrated with the very widely used Veritas NetBackup. The “Usage and Deployment” section of this report includes the full list of supported sources.
