Quantum’s DXi Series product line encompasses several different products, some with multiple configurations. These deduplication products are used as a target for backup, compliance, and archiving. They also help meet disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) requirements. Typically, these systems are used as an alternative to tape drives and libraries, although Quantum enables direct output to tape libraries for environments where both disk-to-disk and tape retention are desired.
The midrange DXi4800 is with either NAS/OST, or VTL or multiprotocol support. The offering includes all other software licenses including the deduplication, replication, and DXi Accent for distributed deduplication.
The high-end DXi9000 product is available in a standard density (“SD”) and a high density (“HD”) configuration, both of which offer expandable storage capacities (12 drive carries for the SD and 60 for the HD, for up to 1,020 TB of capacity). Rounding out the upper end of the portfolio is Quantum’s DXi9100 array, which offers up to 2PB of capacity. These arrays use large capacity HDDs and they include SSDs for metadata operations to deliver a combination of density and performance. Self-encrypting drives (SEDs) are used to protect data at rest.
