CTERA’s enterprise global file system caches hot data locally and stores master copies of data as object storage in a public cloud.
CTERA Enterprise File Services Platform’s multi-cloud unstructured data management supports SMB and NFS protocols, and is an alternative to enterprise NAS filers. CTERA stores a great majority of its data in object storage on public or private clouds, with around 3% of the data stored as block data on flash for metadata.
It places a master copy of data in the customer’s own public cloud account or private object storage system, synchronizes the data across sites and keeps a cached version of files that can be accessed at each location. This allows all users to access data – deduplicated — directly from the cloud using the global namespace while continuing to share data at each site.
The CTERA Enterprise File Services Platform’s features and capabilities include file sync and share, encryption, end point access for remote workers, data reduction, local and cloud failover, and long-term archiving.
