Veritas Application Mobility Service: Smooth Move to the Cloud
Analyst Take: Migrating to the cloud promises agility, scalability, and cost savings. But the journey is time-consuming and can be fraught with challenges even for the largest and most experienced IT operations teams, from navigating complex processes and dependencies to ensuring application resiliency and performance in the cloud. Such is especially true when it comes to modernizing critical applications.
Veritas Application Mobility Service is designed to make the transition to the cloud smoother and more efficient, cutting cloud migration time from months to minutes according to Veritas. Specifically, the service automates processes including application deployment and migration. It includes best practice templates for application configuration that can also be customized per the customer’s specific requirements—offering granular control that avoids a one-size-fits-all approach. Customers select their desired application and cloud environment, make any customizations as appropriate, and then deploy. In addition to reducing the need for time-intensive and cumbersome manual configuration and troubleshooting, this approach reduces the amount of expertise required by IT operations teams.
In being based on Veritas Alta Enterprise Resiliency, the service offers built-in application resiliency. Veritas has added support for Microsoft Azure, complementing the existing support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and it has made the service accessible to everyone, where previously it was available only to Veritas customers. The latter complements its free 60-day trial.
In summary, it is not hyperbole to describe the migration to the cloud as a journey, with each application having unique dependencies and requirements. This is especially true for mission-critical applications, and it is a growing barrier to modernization for enterprises. The Veritas service provides a path to migrating applications to the cloud more quickly, while minimizing headaches for IT teams and the risk of misconfigurations. Veritas is already well-proven when it comes to data protection and application resiliency among enterprises and its installed base; it will build on this credibility to address new use cases as well as new customers.
