Kyndryl and NetApp Global Alliance Aims to Fast-Track Cloud Transformation, Data Insights

Analyst Take: The Kyndryl and NetApp global alliance is all about cloud transformation. Kyndryl, the world’s largest IT infrastructure provider, and NetApp, a software company with considerable expertise in cloud and data applications are well-positioned to make significant inroads on this front. With their combined capabilities, the companies aim to develop new solutions that enable customers to access, analyze, and derive insights from unstructured data. Much like other alliances we’ve seen Kyndryl form post-spinoff from IBM, this one makes a lot of sense. By tying IT modernization to cloud transformation, Kyndryl and NetApp can fast-track both processes and solve common business challenges for enterprises across industries.

Data-driven business transformation can only happen when enterprises have access to actionable insights from both structured and unstructured data — but as we know all too well, companies often face an avalanche of unstructured data without the capability to manage it and extract its value. With so many types of unstructured data (including text-based documents, photos, audio and video files, IoT sensors, and more) at their fingertips, they are seeking solutions that offer the ability to derive insight and aid decision-making. That’s where Kyndryl and NetApp’s alliance for cloud transformation makes perfect sense. By combining IT infrastructure, managed services, and cloud computing expertise, this will help speed transformation initiatives, which is exactly what businesses are looking for.

Speeding Cloud Transformation Through Data Insights

Some backstory: the strategic alliance between Kyndryl and NetApp isn’t new. It’s the result of over 15 years of collaboration between the teams involved on innovative data management solutions and collective success in key industries and data-centric market segments. The alliance between the companies is all about enabling delivery of critical data infrastructure to customers in order to accelerate innovation and impact, and fast-track cloud transformation. The two companies plan to co-design infrastructure-as-a-service solutions surrounding unstructured data, as well as deliver new hybrid cloud solutions and services for a variety of industries, including automotive, manufacturing, and financial services.

Kyndryl’s partnership with NetApp is the latest in a string of strategic alliances that expand its portfolio of solutions and relevant industries. By bringing NetApp into the fold, Kyndryl’s cloud transformation efforts gain a major ally in the data management space. I’m excited to see this, and looking forward to seeing the results of this collaboration and how they will impact the speed of cloud transformation and transition when aided by data insights.
