NetApp’s FlexPod Converged Infrastructure (CI) consists of Cisco’s UCS servers, Cisco networking components and NetApp storage systems, sold as an integrated, rack-level solution. Like other CIs, FlexPods are designed to provide a complete, integrated infrastructure stack for a specific use case, such as database, cloud computing, server or desktop virtualization, etc.
NetApp FlexPods are actually pre-configured solutions that have been tested and validated by NetApp and Cisco and included on Cisco’s Validated Designs (CVDs) or NetApp’s Verified Architectures (NVAs). Authorized FlexPod partners sell and deploy the solutions.
FlexPod is available in three platforms, Data Center, Express or XCS. FlexPod Data Center is designed for enterprise workload applications, such as virtualization or cloud, Express is a smaller-scale configuration designed for remote locations and XCS is designed for hybrid cloud connectivity.
NetApp Storage
FlexPods can be ordered with NetApp FAS 500f, 2000, 8000 or 9000 series hybrid controllers in an HA configuration. FlexPod can also include all-flash FAS AFF and All SAN Array (ASA) A200, A300, A400, A700 or A800. FAS, AFF and ASA storage all run NetApp ONTAP software. FlexPod Express is also available with the NetApp E-Series storage and SANtricity software.
For more information on any of these storage systems, see the appropriate Evaluator Series Research documentation.
