PRESS RELEASE

Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM Dominate HR/Employee Experience Market

Austin, Texas, USA, August 22, 2025

Futurum’s Survey of Enterprise IT Decision Makers Reveals That Large HR Software Vendors Dominate the Market Among Current Users and Top the Shortlist of Vendors Under Future Consideration

Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, and Oracle HCM continue to dominate the landscape of HR software vendors, according to a new Futurum Research report. Futurum’s survey of 895 IT decision makers published in June 2025 found that these vendors were the top three vendors named by respondents as currently supplying software to their organizations. When asked about the top three vendors currently under consideration for a future purchase, these same three vendors topped the list.

Workday (27.9%), SAP SuccessFactors (25.5%), and Oracle HCM (23.3%) were the most-often cited vendors that currently supply HR/Employee Experience software to organizations across all revenue bands, from less than $500 million in revenue to more than $25 billion in annual revenue. Notably, when looking solely at the North America region, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources leapfrogs Oracle HCM into the third spot, reflecting Microsoft’s historically strong performance within its home region.

When looking at the top vendors under consideration for a new purchase, buyers highlighted the same three vendors, with Workday (41.9%) clearly demonstrating momentum at the top, followed by SAP SuccessFactors (32.3%) and Oracle HCM (22.6%).

“The findings underscore a clear trend toward large, integrated HR platforms,” explains Keith Kirkpatrick, Research Director, Enterprise Software & Digital Workflows, with Futurum. “The dominance of a few vendors at the top demonstrates clear demand for comprehensive HR functionality and a preference for established vendors with a strong track record for managing complex processes and safeguarding critical employee data.”

The research reveals several key developments shaping the HR/Employee Experience software landscape:

  • Workday and SAP show a disproportionate share of new implementations, likely signaling a trend toward purchasing full-suite HCM platforms rather than repurposed CRM/platforms.
  • The current landscape is concentrated among a handful of suites, with the new implementation data indicating further consolidation at the top, though Oracle is also picking up share.
  • Microsoft’s lower proportion among new HR choices suggests it’s less often chosen as the primary, stand-alone HCM in recent deals. At the same time, Salesforce—essential for CRM/employee experience—is rarely selected as a core HR system for new rollouts.

That said, Kirkpatrick says that emerging vendors are still viable in the marketplace. “The rapidly advancing capabilities based on generative AI and agentic workflows may help newer entrants or point solutions gain traction, particularly for specialized tools for employee recognition, engagement, or enhanced workflow automation.”
