HPE SimpliVity – Product Brief

The HPE SimpliVity HCI product family consists of 1U and 2U servers all running the OmniStack software developed by SimpliVity before being acquired by HPE in 2017. HPE SimpliVity models are all-flash storage exclusively (except the hybrid 380 Backup node) and feature embedded data reduction and data protection, among other unique characteristics. Typically deployed in two-node or larger configurations (up to 16 nodes per cluster), HPE SimpliVity can also be deployed as a single node (internal RAID 5), allowing lower cost implementations.

The HPE SimpliVity 380 is a 2U node with single or dual Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs (8 – 56 cores) running on the DL380 Gen10 platform. Available in “Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large” all-flash models, each single-node appliance has up to 12 SSDs. The 380 is the only model that uses the original PCIe accelerator card to do in-line data reduction.

The HPE SimpliVity 2600 is designed for higher density, with up to four 1U, half-width nodes running on the Apollo 2600 Gen 10 platform. The 2600 also supports two 2U, half-height nodes, which can accommodate a single GPU. Both nodes have single or dual Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs (12 – 48 cores) and support 6 SSDs.

The HPE SimpliVity 325 Edge Node is a single-node appliance with one AMD EPYC 7000/7002 CPU (16-64 cores) running on the 1U DL325 Gen10 server. Designed for ROBO and SMB deployments where cost and footprint are important factors, it supports up to 6 SSDs.
