PRESS RELEASE

Security, Alignment, and Visibility Lead Observability Benefits for Enterprises

Austin, Texas, USA, October 27, 2025

Futurum Research highlights the tightened alignment between IT, developers, and security, along with improvements in security, visibility, cost, and performance as leading observability benefits, noting a rise in investment in AIOps.

Futurum Research findings highlight the growing organizational value of observability strategies. Enterprises report improved security, cross-team alignment, and increased visibility as the most impactful benefits. The research also notes an accelerated shift toward AIOps investment as organizations work to unify development, IT, and security functions.

According to Futurum’s latest data, 29% of respondents cited improved security detection and response capabilities as the most impactful outcome of observability strategies. Tightened alignment between IT, developers, and security followed closely at 22%, with increased visibility across cloud-native and traditional applications at 21%. Other notable impacts included improved operational costs (20%), improved SLA performance (20%), and reduced risk (18%).

This trend signals a shift in how enterprises view observability, not just as a technical capability, but as an enabler of organizational collaboration, performance, and security posture.

Security, Alignment, and Visibility Lead Observability Benefits for Enterprises

“Observability has matured from a set of operational tools into a strategic capability that connects development, operations, and security,” said Mitch Ashley, Vice President and Practice Lead, Software Lifecycle Engineering at Futurum. “Enterprises are realizing that alignment between these groups doesn’t just improve response times, it underpins how teams work together to secure and optimize systems.”

Futurum’s findings underscore the strategic importance and longevity of observability investments as a pillar of future digital operations. This is particularly true as organizations expand their reliance on AI-driven applications, models, and agents to keep pace with rapid change and business demands.

The research shows that 40% of organizations plan to expand their observability environments or increase their investment in AIOps. This aligns with the growing industry momentum around using observability data to power AI-driven operational decision-making.

Key Trends Identified in the Research

  • Observability benefits extend across functions, with gains seen in security, operations, and development.
  • Alignment between development, IT, and security teams is breaking down long-standing silos.
  • The benefits are broad, reaching well beyond a few traditional use cases.
  • Organizations increasingly view observability as foundational for managing and scaling AIOps initiatives.

The observability market is strong and diverse, with well-established and emerging vendors providing robust solutions across a wide range of needs. Futurum’s Mitch Ashley stated, “Organizations have healthy choices from vendors, including AWS, Cisco, Dynatrace, Google, Honeycomb, IBM, LogicMonitor, Microsoft, New Relic, OpenText, Oracle, and more. This breadth of options gives teams flexibility to build observability strategies that best fit their environments and goals.”
