The News: At SIGGRAPH 2025, NVIDIA revealed that the new RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPU will be making its way into 2U enterprise servers from big names like Cisco, Dell Technologies, HPE, Lenovo, and Supermicro. These rack-mounted systems bring substantial GPU power to a widely used server size, aimed at everything from AI and content creation to data analysis, graphics, simulations, and industrial AI.

These new 2U RTX PRO Servers come in several configurations and offer up to 45 times the performance and 18 times the energy efficiency of standard CPU-only 2U systems. One example is Dell’s PowerEdge R7725, which packs in two RTX PRO 6000 GPUs, NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, and NVIDIA networking. Broader availability is expected later this year.

Analyst Take: NVIDIA’s move to integrate its Blackwell-powered RTX PRO 6000 GPUs into common 2U enterprise servers marks a step toward mainstream AI acceleration. With support from major OEMs, NVIDIA is eliminating many of the usual roadblocks—like size, cooling, and cost—that have kept this kind of GPU power out of reach for many companies. These servers are built to handle a wide range of AI, simulation, and analytics tasks while delivering the kind of efficiency gains that make frequent hardware upgrades more justifiable.

Expanding Enterprise AI Adoption

By rolling out these GPUs in a 2U form factor, NVIDIA is making its high-end Blackwell tech accessible to businesses that cannot accommodate the larger 4U setups due to space, power, or cooling limitations. That makes the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell a solid fit for on-site AI training, inference, and data-heavy workloads, without completely overhauling the data center. Since it’s air-cooled, it’s also simpler and cheaper to run compared to liquid-cooled models like the B200 and B300. Now, companies can deploy serious AI capabilities in regular server racks, moving beyond just the top-tier cloud players. The 2U format lowers one of the biggest hurdles and opens the door for wider AI use in corporate IT.

Performance and Efficiency Gains

The RTX PRO 6000-powered servers deliver a giant leap of up to 45x better performance and 18x more energy efficiency than CPU-only 2U systems. That means companies can swap out hundreds of old CPU servers for just a few GPU-powered ones. With fifth-gen Tensor Cores, a second-gen Transformer Engine using FP4 precision, and fourth-gen RTX tech, these servers speed up tasks dramatically – 6x faster for inference and 4x for rendering and generating synthetic data, compared to the L40S GPU. These significant advancements dramatically alter the cost-performance equilibrium.

Broad Workload Versatility

RTX PRO Servers are designed to handle all kinds of demanding workloads, from advanced AI models like Llama Nemotron Super to high-quality rendering, video processing, and scientific simulations. With Multi-Instance GPU support, each GPU can run up to four separate workloads simultaneously, boosting efficiency in shared environments. Robotics and simulation developers can also tap into NVIDIA Omniverse tools and Cosmos world foundation models to speed up their work by as much as 4x compared to older L40S systems. The range of tasks these servers support makes them a key piece of any high-performance computing or AI strategy.

Competitive Positioning Advantage

AMD does not have a direct rival to NVIDIA’s RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPU, giving NVIDIA a clear lead in this space. By aiming Blackwell tech at a broader market – including businesses with around 1,000 servers and moderate AI needs – NVIDIA is going beyond just the big cloud providers. This push into standard enterprise setups helps them get ahead of competitors and strengthens ties with OEMs. By making these systems part of the usual enterprise offerings, NVIDIA cements its spot as the go-to name for GPU-powered computing. Without a competing product from AMD, NVIDIA holds a strong position in enterprise AI acceleration for the time being.
