In a TCO study conducted by Evaluator Group three storage solutions were compared in a virtual server environment. The first was a vSAN cluster running on the Xeon Scalable CPU, the second was a vSAN cluster running on the previous generation of Intel processors and the third was an all-flash array. This analysis was performed to see if an upgrade to the new Intel Xeon Scalable processors can save money and whether a vSAN cluster is cost-effective with an all-flash array, when supporting virtual server workloads.
